Terri Klimek

Terri Klimek is owner of Training Tails with Terri.  She is a life-long Chicago area resident who has made it her goal to make a difference in the lives of canines and their owners. Since 2003, Terri has been using positive reinforcement/reward-based training for all areas of a dog’s life, and coaching owners to use it for puppy training, basic manners, addressing nuisance behaviors (jumping, barking, chewing, etc.), as well as using behavior modification for problem canine behaviors (separation anxiety, leash reactivity, fearful behaviors, etc.). Terri was certified in 2004 by Purdue University’s “DOGS” program for Principles and Techniques of Behavior Modification.  She is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, The Pet Professional Guild of Force Free Pet Professionals, and is recommended by and works with area veterinarians and vet behaviorists. Terri is an Evaluator for the American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen program and S.T.A.R. Puppy program, and offers classes for both. Terri has previously served as the Education Coordinator and past member of the Board of Directors of As Good As Gold - Golden Retriever Rescue of Northern Illinois.

Terri currently supports As Good as Gold and several other local rescue groups in it a variety of areas including temperament testing dogs, developing treatment/rehabilitation programs for problem dogs, and helping foster/adoptive families implement programs for those dogs who need a little more help. To stay current with what’s new in training, Terri attends education conferences, seminars and courses throughout the year.  Terri currently offers classes in Oak Park, Geneva and Wheeling.  She and her husband Paul share their home with their rescued golden retrievers, Keily and Stitch.
