I write a lot about our Behavior Fundamentals class, because, well, it’s just so much fun. But what I don’t talk about as much is our Essential Training Skills program, which is the next level in CanineLink Academy.
In Fundamentals, we give you a good foundation in canine behavior, but in Essentials we give you the deep cuts. This is where we really start digging into topics such as associative learning, canine intelligence and emotion, classical and operant conditioning, anxiety and arousal thresholds, and nuisance behaviors. On top of that, you’ll actually begin to learn the basics of positive training (that’s where it really gets fun)!
Essentials is set up a little bit differently than Fundamentals in that you have one instructor – the excellent Terri Klimek - throughout the program. I particularly like this format because it promotes a real sense of intimacy and camaraderie with your fellow students that lasts long after the four months of class work is over. This is where you start to build your network; these will always be the peeps who knew you when you were first starting out as a trainer, and it’s a very valuable, lifelong bond.
So if you’ve taken Behavior Fundamentals in the past and are ready to take the next step, join us for the Essential Training Skills, starting on March 10. If you have any questions about the program, contact Sarah Gaziano at sarah@caninelink.com.
